I recently was at the ATB concert here in dallas and I noticed that he had his MAC on the dj table during the show. I also noticed some other dj's using the mac during their performances. Out of curiosity what are they using it for. It can't be just for itunes. What kind of software is used?

Thank you.....

Or they may have been been rockin' out with GarageBand:

LOL - Garageband is a nice bit of software, but not really suitable for live sets.

My guess would be Ableton Live. This bit of software allows real time remixing via drag and drop of sample loops - you can do real time effects, pitch shifting and it automatically keeps everything at the same tempo. It's a truly professional piece of kit designed pretty much exclusively for live sets.

I used Live 5 a lot on the PC and am looking at Live 6 on the Mac (download the demo from Ableton). It's incredible, very powerful and flexible - and costs around $500 or $600 depending on the version you get.

BTW - The Orb also used two Macs on stage when I saw them earlier this year - I suspect they were using Live also.
