Apple has started a Rendezvous logo program that's designed to give developers a tool for identifying and marketing the products they've created using Apple's zero configuration networking technology.

Rendezvous is Apple's implementation of the ZeroConf standard. It works with other computers, peripherals, and "devices we haven't even thought of yet," Apple CEO Steve Jobs said at the 2002 Macworld Conference & Expo in New York. You can use it to do things like share music between Macs and use network printers without complicated configurations.

Apple released the source code for Rendezvous to the open source community last September. While the ZeroConf standard is available in the open source community, until then, a working implementation of the standard hadn't been available.

Rendezvous will be among the topics covered at this summer's Apple Worldwide Developer Conference. The conference is being held June 23-27 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. Apple will be previewing the next major update of Mac OS X (code-named Panther) at the conference.
