• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

is it possible to make subtitles with imovie? i know that there it a subtitle option, but it seams that i can make them flowing like translation subtitles in a clip which is 5min... do i have to cut the clips up into sections and then write the text for each section?
and how do i apply? i can see the preview, but i cant apply it to the clip. the is a button called update, but its not active.
and cant i just say how big the font should be? can i only ajust it with the slider?
thanks for many answers to many questions.

Hi Diana, I'm fairly new to this myself but in my limited experience yes.

Once your clip is split, apply using the add button. The 'update' button will not be active if it is your first go but if, for example, you find after applying that the subtitle does not appear on the screen long enough or that you want to change the font, it can be updated then. To do this I usually delete the subtitle from the clip and start again until I get it right, it's all a bit trial and error and I've often found that subtitles and transitions can not be added to clips that ae to short.

Just my 5 cents worth but hope it helps.
