• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Sure, just turn down the volume in DVD player.

Alternatively use an app such as FFMPegX or Handbrake to rip the dvd without its audio tracks.

Sry, should have specified.

I want to the remove the track that only contains the film music and not the one with dialogs.

It should be possible, I just dont know how.

DVD's are not coded with separate video and audio tracks, nor are there separate audio/score and audio/dialogue tracks on a DVD.

That being the case, you are not going to be able to subtract the audio/score in the fashion you are referring to. You would need to have the master tracks to do that, which are for obivious reasons not included.

oh k.

Why is it possible to switch language on dvd, and the soundtrack will still be the same?
Because each language and the soundtrack are mixed togheter?

See, the film industry is smarter than the music industry: You can rip your audio CD's to your iPod and use 1 purchase on 2 devices.

With films, you pay for the DVD, then again for the iPod or PSP version and then again for the soundtrack.

Same content, 3 separate purchases - clever eh?

clever is ripping your own videos for iPod/PSP use, recording your television on the computer and converting for iPod/PSP
