recording tv to my MacBook

whats the best way to record tv on my macbook. I have the mini-dvi to video adapter, can I use it at a video-in to record tv from my tv? If not whats the best way to set this up?

Is there anyway I can run a cable from my tv into my computer and just do it that way without buying something. I just need to record a few things a class.

The macbook doesn't have a video input, the mini DVI port is output only. (Actually very few computers come with built-in video input.)

If you have a digital camcorder you might be able to pass through an analog video signal from your tv or vcr using its firewire connection.

I would definitely recommend the EyeTV 250, I just bought it and it's amazing.. it's the elgato link that monkey posted
