saving dvds to my hd

Whats the best program to save dvd's to my macbook for later viewing. I want something that will compress the file, that wont force me to uncompress it to watch.

I'd have to agree, Handbrake is your best bet. It will rip a DVD *and* compress it, all in one pass. Also, it's free.

Just done my first DVD and agree with previous postings, beautiful piece of FREE software. Another reason why Macs rock!

My only comlain about handbrake is that the resolution is too small. I don't like having that small picture. Is there something that I'm doing wrong or is that the only size that handbrake rips to?

how can I put this new mp4 file that i have of my dvd, back onto a dvd so it will play on set top players?

Is there anything like DVDshrink for mac? The program takes incripted dual layer dvds and lets you burn them onto a single layer disk.
