• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

What are you wanting to shoot?

What's your budget?

Is this for hobby or income?

I can't think of any one website that would have a lot of general knowledge...

I want to do, in medium term, documentary, for tv format...
I need the 101, first to know what does exist as camera, format, the way they work, then the software..
It's just a large point of view that i need.
Budget would be around 2000 $ for soft and hardware.

Your budget is not going to work with what you are planning to do. If you are looking at TV production value, your budget will have to increase. You will need final cut pro, which will help blow the budget. Final cut pro has more formats than final cut express when it come to getting you data out of the program.
