Crikey, that's really sad...

To think of all the things he's done and survived.

Rest in peace Steve!

Very rare. It's being reported that this is the third death in Austrailia in the last 50 years from a stingray attack.

Quite a bit of info available. Google "stingrays" or "stingray spines". Many island cultures have even used them for spear-tips. Pretty nasty appendages physically plus the venom in live ones really complicates the issue, especially when penetration into heart or region near to the heart.

Couldn't believe this. What a shame. Such a great guy, full of zest!

My sympathies go out to his wife and kids. I hope they find strength during this.

As said, at least he died doing what he loved.

I'll miss him and his enthusiasm for his work. Having watched his and his wife's shows, it's easy to feel like you know them personally...

I was watching CNN's video piece on the story, and they held up a stingray barb at one point, it looked about 8 inches long(!), not to mention Stingray venom stops blood circulation to the targeted region.
