• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Can someone tell me how to get music playing over my video using Final Cut pro. I load the music into Final Cut but when I drag it into the bar with the video all it does it bleep.

What am I doing wrong?

Music must be in AIFF format to be usable in Final Cut.

Use iTunes (search for the way to do it if you don't know how) to convert the file into an AIFF, then import it into FC.

Also I suggest using Soundtrack instead, you will have much more control.

It's one of the apps that comes with Final Cut (LiveType, Soundtrack, Compressor), everything should have been installed into your applications folder. It's basically like GarageBand (but for scoring your movies with music).

So do I make my movie in Final Cut without any music behind the movie then upload it into soundtrack and put music onto the movie there?

Do you know what Cinema Tools does? You seem pretty knowledgeable about the Final Cut package

When I have that problem I tell FCP to render the audio. That works for my purpose. But as suggested bringing in an AIFF formatted file would likely be best.

Yes, when you are done with your movie go File > Export > For Soundtrack. Then Open sound track and drag that exported file here...
