Hello all

I have a video in mpeg4 format which I would like to make into an animated gif to send to friends via email.

Could anybody please let me know how I could do this?

why animated gif? that is going to be a godawful process to go through

long story short, just use yousendit.com and send the entire file.

what you really have to do is break it down into jpegs, and then save them layered in photoshop as a gif its not a lot of fun.

You can take snapshots of the movie using SnapNDrag . After that, follow this tutorial in making the GIF.

I'm guessing that there's a faster way to get the JPEGs, but that's the only way I know how to. Good luck.

If you have quicktime pro you can export it as an image sequence and then I use Giffun to create a gif from the images.
