• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

IDVD Menu question...

I just bought a imac, having upgraded from my old emac. In the new idvd, there is no menu option that you can choose where you can really create a clean blank menu with yuor own pics and text. I'm talking about something simple where you can just place a pic over what they offer you, and change ALL the text and create something entiely different and new. There used to be one on the old mac, but they don't offer that particular menu on the new idvd. Anyone have a suggestion?

I have seen what you are talking about in iMovie 5, but you can do that in iMovie 6. You can create you backdrop and then import it. Then you can use the button and menu tabs. If you are looking for a plain black backgroud, I have not seen that in any of the iMovie revisions.

How do you go about creating your own background in 6? Just tell me where to get started and I'll try and go fom there.

Also, can you only record up to 2 hours on a dvd or have the raised it yet?

As far as I can see you, will need to create the background in another program like PhotoShop. Then import the image into iMovie.

You can record a little less than two hours on a standard DVD-R or DVD+R. Any more than two hours and you will need a DVD-R DL or DVD+R DL.

In iDVD:
If you don't have Photoshop, just take a screen shot of a blank or colored background etc. Save it to your desktop, put it iPhoto.
Go to to iDVD create a new project. Choose a theme that has no drop zone or a little drop zone. Open media and select iPhoto last roll. Your background shot will reside there. Drag that file into the background of the theme and highlight and delete all boxes that you wish to get rid of. Go to save and save it to favorites after you name it. If you don't want it to replace the edited theme you selected, deselect replace theme.
Go do it now!
