hey guys and girls,
I have a quick question for y'all. I just got my macbook and when I download programs, etc, a little thing that looks like a white hard drive comes up on my desktop. It contains all of the individual thing that I downloaded. How do I move this/ put it off of my desktop without deleting the application? :dummy:

You need to drag the application from "white hard drive" (aka the disk image) to your applications folder. That "installs" the application to your computer. Then you will need to eject the disk image. In the Finder you will see the disk image. To the right will be an "up" arrow. Click it. That will eject the disk image. Then delete the .dmg file you downloaded. HTH
