Apple provided a pre-release seed of Mac OS X v10.2.5 to developers Friday, releasing updates to both the client and server version.
Both seeds were marked build 6L11, skipping over the J and K build ranges from the 10.2.4 update, which was labeled 6I23.
Version 10.2.5 contains a variety of fixes, including updates and enhancements to QuickDraw, IPSec, TCP performance, web services, Sound Manager, and Windows 2000 compatibility.
Developers were instructed to focus their testing efforts on usage with dialup modem connections, graphics with games and OpenGL applications, Bluetooth devices, managed client environments, audio devices, XML/RPC applications, and file sharing to SMB and AFP volumes.
Only one known issue was provided in the seed note accompanying the build, warning that sound does not work properly with the Dual 800 MHz Power Mac G4. "Playing any sound may hang machine," the note said.
10.2.5 could be the end of the line for Jaguar, after which Apple will ramp up development of the next major OS X upgrade, v10.3 "Panther". If you have any information to provide, please email us or use our anonymous email form.
