• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Handbrake, FFMpegX or Toast should do it.

And do a search, this has been covered in detail elsewhere.

Same problem with me, I'm downloading handbreak just now due to the suggestion above. Stuipid Shiva, not working with the audio...

I've downloaded and uninstalled arounf 16 programs now, all I want to do is use idvd !!! :eek:neye:

Worst part is that I don't know if it's the file type, program, or me that's the problem.

Ok... just tried using handbreak, and look! It won't even let me open my vob... wow, that's a shocker >.<

...next..................

The .vob files should normally be in a folder called video_ts if they are part of a DVD. Handbrake can open those.

But whatever, FFMpegX can open the .vob files directly, so just use that then. (Installation takes a while as you need 3 additional files, but it can work with almost any audio/video format).
