I have the MacBook (black) w/ SuperDrive.

I'm trying to burn a compressed file (backup) .tgz onto a DVD. The file size is 1.67GB.

When I create a burn folder and try to burn the file, it says please insert blank disc? I went thru about 4 DVD's in my blank stack.. what's going on?

I recommend using Toast. I know it doesn't answer your question, but it works great for me.

What speed is your burner? Roxio should have told you just before you clicked burn. What Mac do you have? That is not a bad time for say a 8x burner.

Yes, 4X Speed. That is why I asked which mac you had. For 4x that is just right in the speed department.

Yeah that will fly and maybe take 4 minutes or so, but I have noticed that some 16x burns have more problems playing say on set top DVD players than burning say at 8x so do take that into mind if you burn movies and want to play then on anything out there.

You could have just mounted the blank DVD image on the desktop , dragged the file to it , right clicked and selected BURN....
