What good software to choose?

well, I just recently went on a software buying spree, and got myself the entire adobe CS2 suite as well as microsoft office.. what other software should I be on the lookout for?..

it's on a 1.33ghz/1g/80g g4 powerbook as well.

Umm... it depends on what you plan on doing. Sure, Adobe CS2 is great if you are into professional graphic design. MS Office is more or less a staple anymore these days. So I would assume that you are at least interested in learning design.
As for any other suggestions, again it depends on what you would like to do. No real sense in just buying expensive software suites for the heck of it in my opinion.

I guess then just something that a normal computer person may need down the road. I do dable with design though.

If web, then flash and dreamweaver are a must. (even if you don't make flash a major part of your site, you can use it for little things through out the site, to add to the site... but not take it over)

if you're into print, CS is the software to have. Listen to PowerbookG4 for web. Use CS to prepare images for his suggestions. :)

maya is good, but extremely hard to learn and there is not much use for it if you are just doing it as a really small on the side business or for fun.

InDesign for print media. It makes fantastic layouts (so does Pages :p )

I do a ton of print design in my graphics class. I think I'd be lost without InDesign.

yup and lightwave is amazingly better (for majority of renders)
