I've got some AVI movies off a mate, and they won't play in Quicktime. Just white screen, no sound. I also grabbed some that came with a few different sub folders and had EXT, MPEGAV, SEGMENT & VCD sub folders, with .vcd and .dat files - which I don't know how to play. Sorry I'm new to Mac's and am a little perplexed! Cheers!

ill tell you the same thing i tell the hundreds of other people who ask this question with out using the search function. use the program, 'VLC' to play all those media types

Coach is RIGHT as usual. VLC is especially good with those VCD type files like the ones you listed. I just used VLC here to play those very file types checking out this VCD for someone. Great program.
