• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Is there a freeware program simliar to DVD-shrink for OS X? I tried several sites and couldn't find any information on which products worked for OS X. I guess that Toast and some other roxio titles will work after you apply an update, but I think it's kinda gimpy that what's free on my PC costs $50 to do on my mac.

Any suggestions?

if you want a really high quality program just to shrink programs i suggest you spend theh few bucks to either purcchase dvd2onex in order to compress on your hard drive, or toast7 titanium in order to compress and burn in one step. toast does not leave the compressed portion on your computer though

If you just want to compress to something like MP4, try HandBrake.
