I don't really want a rev A macbook but I want to get one really soon. I was thinking about this, going a picking up a macbook and getting the applecare with it hoping that when rev B releases I can exchange mine? I'm asking if this would work because I'm sure my macbook will be pretty hot and I think rev B will do something about the heat sooo I dont want to be stuck with a rev A. What do you guys say? The obvious answer is Wait for rev B but I already know that...

They usually exchange if revision happens within 30 days of purchase, not if you purchase now and try to exchange months down the line. Keep your ear to the rail about any new developments. Check macrumors.com :)

It puzzles me the aversion people have to the 'dreaded Rev A'. Seeing as Apple don't use this revision labelling system, how do you know when a 'Rev B' machine is about?

*sits happily with his problem free 'Rev A' macbook* :)

Apple won't just "replace" it because it gets hot sometimes. Something needs to be seriously wrong with it. Just be patient.

Whenever apples bumps the specs on a machine, it is referred to as a new revision.

So whenever apple upgrades the macbook to 2,0 / 2,16 Ghz or whatever comes next, that will be revision 'b'.

OK. Still doesn't explain the witch-hunt style aversion some people have to anything new :)

Well, rev a machines from apple have often been plagued by issues (people with rev a 1,8 Ghz Powermac G5's still get random lockups that haven't really been resolved), so apple is also partly to blame for this...
