Will be switching soon (iMac 20"). Wondering if Mac platform offers way to scan and process color negatives to produce usable images/prints.

Attempts to do this previously with various Windows programs pretty much hopeless. Scanning the color negs is easy enough but have not found any way to process those scans to acceptable images or prints. Programs used to date produce bizarre and utterly unacceptable color balance.

No trouble with slides or B&W negs. Color negatives is my problem.

Recent article in MacWorld (June 2006) has an entire feature "New Life for Old Photos" beginning on page 66 but nowhere does it mention the difficulties of obtaining proper color balance from a scanned color negative. Do these difficulties not exist with Mac or was the article simply oblivious to them? Or maybe (hopehopehope) its no big deal for Mac?
