Okay, not really a switcher anymore becasue I bought my second mac yesterday. A intel 17inch imac off the shelf.

My question is about the ram. They did not have the 1gig stick in stock so I planned to buy it later. I work mostly with GB and today it did very well (compared to my g4 1.2 ibook) with a multi track file. I kept the activity monitor open and watch the ram usage and it stay reasonably free. I don't multi task when editing becasue I have a pc and the ibook right beside it. (wow I am long winded) Will I notice much of a speed boost by adding another gig of ram?

Anything over 1Gb will be academic unless it is a huge file or your multi-tasking.

The files I work with are around 250 to 500 megs. I bumped my windows lap top up to 1 gig a while back and the difference was barely noticeable. So, I assume from you post that add a 1 gig (total 1.5 gig) would maybe overkill, but add 512 (total 1 gig) might produce an improvement.

caveatipss, I swear you posted before I finished typing.
