Looking for a program like notepad in windows that will handle html like it in mac

I have very light html work I need to do, i just need to alter a few lines of code and I don't need a huge html editor I just need something that will work like notepad does in windows for editing html.

Any suggestions?

TextEdit. It's on every Mac. Just open it up and hit Shift+Command+T to make the document plain text, then save it out as .html and there you have it! :mac:

I am trying to edit an already existing html file but converting to plain text mode does not allow me to see the html, it just seems to remove the photos that were on the page but still keeps the color background.

Well, I usually use it to make very simple pages, use CreaText instead. It's free and works very very well. It's also pretty light weight. Check it out.

i like to use text wrangler for html

TextEdit will do it. You just have to change a couple of preferences.

Open the TextEdit Preferences panel and choose the Open and Save tab.

Deselect 'Add ".txt" extension to plain text files', if your creating new html files.

Select 'Ignore rich text commands in HTML files' so you can open them without the redering occuring.

Subethaedit works great (has a live preview window too) and is free for private use...
