Keyboard query.

HI all, I have a question about my keyboard usage on my Mac in High Siera, using Messages.

On my iPad when typing in messages, I use the return key to start a new paragraph. On my Mac keyboard this key sends the message. I usually finish up sending about three messages instead of one because I automatically press return to start new paragraphs!

Is there a different key or keys to use in messenger to start a new line or paragraph?

It only seems to do this in Messenger.

Do you mean Messages or Messenger. One is from Apple, the other from Facebook. You referred to both of them.

OK, thanks for clarifying that. To get a paragraph on the Mac in Messages, use Option-Return. Hold down Option key, press return.
