We use AIM internally at work for quick messages back and forth between reps, and not so long ago, I had decided to use a photo of my Mac mini as my buddy icon. When asking a quick question of a co-worker, I received my answer, and also a question: "Hey is that a Mac mini I see as your buddy icon?". Well, after confirming that it was, and that it was mine, I was met with the kind of enthusiasm you usually only see when they knock down the Berlin Wall! It was a great experience. Until then, neither of us knew we were fellow Mac users, and while I feel like we shared a professional respect for each other's abilities, etc, now we might as well have just discovered we were separated at birth. Well, not quite, but it was pretty cool. I don't think I'll ever be honking and waving at a fellow Corvette driver, but I "get it" now. :)
