The connector of my charger is getting extremely hot, as in i burned my finger on it. The area of the laptop that connects is getting warm but not really much more than normal. Does this sound as though the charger itself needs to be replaced? I've looked online for a solution but I'm not really seeing my specific problem. The brick of the charger is not getting warm, just the part that actually connects to the laptop. I've got a MacBook Pro with retina display from mid 2014. Any help is appreciated.

You need to replace that charger and cable before it causes a fire. Don't continue to use it until you do.

The connector should get warm but not hot enough to burn your finger. You should definitely replace it.
