There are many various "hacks" on the net and also in www.macrumors.com that show how to install Windows on an external drive and dual boot with your Mac. I don't know about the instructions at 9 to 5 Mac, but obviously they didn't work. Suggest starting over and follow one of the other many procedures that are available.

With such sites, read through the user comments and there might be a fix for some things that might not work.

If you go to MacRumors, just do a search on the subject and you'll get a bunch of hits. Be specific as to what you need and define your hardware as the procedures are different depending on what you have.
