Weird Sounds

I am sure this question has been asked and answered but I am new to your site...I am hearing weird sounds coming from my iMac they just started today...crackling and a short five note intro to something...I have checked my activity monitor, but do not know where else to look...any advice to stop this would be helpful...Thank you.

And did you install anything today????

Try doing a Shutdown, wait 30 seconds and then boot up but try using Safe Boot Mode by pressing and holding down the shift key.
Log in and see if the sounds have gone. If so, it's from some third party software you installed.

To get back to "normal"operation just Restart. Safe Boot Mode prevents third party stuff from loading and is used as a test.
Finding the actual cause is the other challenge.

And as Slydude says, the site will be kaput Dec.31 and I think it's the first time I've ever seen a post by a "Guest" here.

That's because she asked to have her membership removed and we complied. Any posts she made will show up as guest.

I was a "guest" for a day when the board crashed! I'm in elite company (at least until the 31st).
