I have an iPhone 5S with a fried battery. I can just replace the battery, but maybe I should upgrade the phone. I like the footprint of the SE, but am wondering if it makes sense to go from a 5S to SE when the series is already at 7S and might soon be at 8. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Carole

The iPhone SE is actually the same as the iPhone 6s but with a much smaller footprint. Currently, the iPhone 7 and 7+ are the latest iPhones. We don't know if Apple will refresh with a 7s or 8, but most pundants think since it's the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, the 8 will include a special edition. More $$$. Also, the rumor is that the SE will also be refreshed but we don't know that for sure. If I were you, I would replace the battery for now and wait until September or October to see what Apple comes up with. A new battery will cost you $79 at your local Apple store in Houston.

Thanks for the suggestion. That makes sense. The new 8 coming in will maybe lower existing prices for the other phones too.

But I am wondering what life is like without a headphone port on the phone. That's why I like the current SE, same accessories. I like to charge my phone with the headphones on when I am driving, but I have to because I have shot battery and a 1999 Honda Accord. Maybe I should buy a new car instead of a new phone. There's female logic for you.

LOL, don't worry about that new car Carole.. I'm still driving a 98 Mustang and my wife's car is a 2005 Camry. I have a 7+ and don't really miss the headphone jack but I never listen to music on my iPhone anyway. I do like the SE but I also like the large screen on my 7+ since it's easier for me to read from. By the way, the new iPhone 8 is supposed to be more expensive than the 7+. Some rumors have it at $989.00 and $1089 depending on storage size.

Go wireless (get wireless headphones)...you may ask yourself why you didn't go wireless sooner!;)
