problem with date in numbers-cell

1) when I enter 'august' and hit enter, the word changes to 'August'.
2) when I left-click in the cell 'August' changes to '1.8.2017 00:00:00'
where can I change the settings so that the system accepts what I enter?

Welcome to the forum.

Change the cell format from "automatic" to "text" and the cell will accept "august" as text and not convert to a date.
