I'm an avid reader of news, especially breaking news, and I'm used to getting AP Mobile, USA Today, Bloomberg, WSJ, etc., every morning and throughout the day on my iPhone. How can I get my news fix on my new MacBook? Many thanks for your suggestions!

I use Feedly and their desktop app to keep up with the news.

Quick question Ashwin.

News, classifieds etc free in USA? More and more here Down Under it seems subscription payments required.

All of the places that I use wth Feedly support RSS feeds and they vary from provider to provider. Some give you the full content to see within the app (RSS feed) itself, whereas others will give you a couple of paragraphs and link to the website for the full article where you will get the usual ads and so on. Websites that are generally subscription based generally don't have RSS feeds or if they do it's just the headline or something constantly requiring you to visit the article on the website where you would be logged in to view..

Places like Forbes, Wall Street Journal function like this, so I've just been sticking to other sites that work based on ads instead (of course my ad blockers ensure that I don't actually see the ads)..

Like Ashwin said some are free. However, the NY Times, WSJ, LA Times, and other large papers are by subscription only for full content. Paper content and newspaper deliveraries are dying fast. Just about all of my subscriptions are digital whereas years ago I would receive a mailbox full of magazines every month.
