Images transferred from MacAir iPhoto to SD card show incorrect date

Today on my MacAir, I transferred 200 photo images from iPhoto to my SD card. I used the SD slot in the laptop. The SD card has all my images, but now everything shows a creation date of Dec 31, 1969. What went wrong? Thanks for any help you can give me.
