Unknown Device on Mac Pro

Hi i was wondering if anyone knew what this Device on my Mac could be? I have never noticed it until recently and was a little concerned. Thanks for any help.

It "looks" like a device that is offering WiFi. It could be a phone that is near you and has it's access point enabled.

Got any HP printers close by? We have three at work and what you have showing up is similar to what we see from them. Look under printers and click the "+" to see what shows up.

Oh man, so many opportunities to mess with them.

Is this a timely warning about NOT connecting your printer wirelessly? Perhaps I am reading things into it that are not there! Not at all sure on this one at all but it might open things up to unwanted outside influences.

Keith, I think that is not a warning. Most printers use security to make sure they are connected only to the computers authorized to print to them. But they still broadcast their name, so it's entirely possible that the OP could see it from across the street. But if he tried to connect, he would have to provide a password to do so. So it's safe to use wireless printing, as long as you use some measure of security with it.

Same as networks available to your computer. The Mac picks them up but cannot access them, unless someone is using a network without a password!

For example apart from showing my dual channels, there are another nine networks listed. Just ignore.
