I've just been given a Pineng PowerBank 10,000mAh 2.1 amp or also 1.0 amp output both at 5 volts advertised for use charging an iPhone and iPad etc..

1. Can anyone think of a good reason why I should not also use it to charge up my Macbook Air?

2. And if OK can I just plug in a USB-USB cable into the USB OUTPUT socket on the laptop or should I get a special cable to fit into the computer INPUT magnetic socket?

Alice appreciated

The power adapter cord regulates and communicates with the MBA continuously, you will kill the MBA, if you remove this device fro the equation. 5v for a 120v MBP, does that sound reasonable?
