No you do not need MacKeeper or Norton.

No you do not need MacKeeper or Norton.

or Avast or <insert your anti-virus name here>. These are a waste of resources and more importantly money on Macs. When you setup your Mac, your account is an administrator account with necessary privileges. Every time you install an application or make a system change, that password will be asked. Every time it is asked, you should consider if it is appropriate or not. So getting apps from the Mac App Store or reputable places will serve you well.
