A relative recently died and I have a Mini-DVD from my Sony camera that I would like to copy and send to his wife.

Have no idea how to do this.

Running an iMac OS X El Capitan V. 10.11.6,
8 GB memory, Apple DVD multi recorder

A neighbor had a similar Sony camera and she just connected the camera to her Mac via some cable and used the Sony software (I don't know its name) to transfer and create movies.

The long movies she then edited and then burnt to CD/DVD or whatever, but those seem to be becoming passé for some users these days.
