• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have a huge amount of movies and pics of my mother. Would like to create a DVD using them in her memory and then be able to burn to a DVD to share with family.

In past I had taken course in adobe prem elements 4 and did a pretty good job of my projects.

My question is I was wondering anyone has experience iMovie and prem elements. iMovie is free but will the free one do as much as prem elements that I would have to buy.

Depends what you want to do when you make your movie. I say movie because that's what you will be making initially because neither iMovie nor Prem Elements will give you a DVD at the end. You will need a DVD burning application for that.

iMovie should be sufficient for your needs initially, then you'll need either Burn(free) or Roxio Toast(not free) to make the DVD.

Would either of you like to take my place in the I messed up line? A few more mistakes and they'll probably hand me a permanent parking spot at the head of the line.:[

i will look into some burning software but don't want to spend a lot as I am only going to do this once and probably never do it again...but then again, who knows what the future holds.

mistakes - making and accepting, all in good fun.
many times i ask for help in a very unclear way...mainly cuz i really don't understand all that i am talking about
and don't know how to relay my question.

this is a marvelous forum and all works out in the end....
thank you all for great volunteer work!!!
