Are you referring to your Apple I.D.? Or is this the username and login password? Please clarify.

I am still confused. Let me clarify. If you can not log into the computer itself and you used your apple id for the login username and password that is a bit of an issue. I never make my apple id the login for any of my macs. This is because if I should forget my password on my mac then I can use my apple id to reset the password.

As for retrieving your apple id, you will need to contact Apple. If you know the email you used for your apple id this link will help recover your password:

https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid

Here is another link that might be useful: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201354

And if all else fails - call apple support. Use this to look up the number: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204169

I trut Jim it is not running FileVault2 encryption which can be a real job to get unlocked. Fingers crossed Lisa's suggestion works.
