I had a great converter that, for reasons I don't understand, disappeared from my desktop. I believe it was called AVI. I can't find the free download. Please help.

I used to drag and drop the video file onto the icon and it would play

If the app icon disappeared from your Desktop, it should still be in your Applications folder. Did you check there? Personally, I use vlc, https://www.videolan.org/vlc/, for my video conversion needs. Without knowing the app name, there is no way of knowing what app you are referring to.
