Swapping out my text editor for something on the Mac

So, the one thing I LOVED about my PC was this older than dirt program I used everyday called Textpad. It's a text editor that can take on software development personalities for java, node, XML, etc. and it supported regex so I could edit massive amounts of data easily. So... what are the options for a nice programmer's text editor on the Mac. (yes, I just found vi is here natively, so I'm kind of in heaven).
