Have the custom phone greeting set up and working, but that obnoxious "...when you are finished hang up or press 1 for more options" won't go away. Is there any way to get rid of it? (Does anyone really need to be told to hang up the phone when they are finished?!)

I thought the custom phone greetings were different depending on your carrier? Usually, you can set up your voice mail so that it doesn't do the "Press 1" thing.

Good links Patrick. I was never aware that the iPhone had a built in voicemail message. I was always under the impression that voicemail had to be set up with your carrier. LOL, shows how much I use my iPhone. ;P

OK chscag, but…

I only have limited access to my wife's iPhone 4 which I hardly ever use or even touch, but that voicemail message thing did seem to rely on the visual voicemail and provider settings etc. from some of the google hits I checked on. Are you sure it can be "built-in" for all provider's to use? I couldn't find any real confirmation.

Seems to be a standard thing these days to have something that's not standardized. But not to worry, they'll be bringing out a new "standard" to change all that. Yeah right!!!

PS: I'd like to know why they couldn't make my iPad 2 capable of cellphone/phoning when it can use a compatible SIM card for all other cell data use when installed.

Oh right, I forgot — MONEY probably. But that'll be the day I spend several hundred $$$ on any mobile cellphone. Even a hundred $$$ on an old used model would be excessive to me.

Several hundred dollars would be welcome. Price out an iPhone 7+ with 128GB of storage. How about close to $1000.00 US without adding Apple Care +? :(

Try almost $1,200.00 cdn for that model which is well into absurd nausea territory for me!!!

I appreciate the fact that some can justify and actually use and benefit using such expensive models, but it makes me feel ill and nauseated when I see some barely able to use 2% of such iDevice's capabilities and pay the price strictly for vanity sake of owning one which they can't actually do anyway, as the license to actually just use one states. Apple owns it, but gee thanks Apple for letting the buyer actually use such an expensive iDevice.

Oh right, I should check and maybe charge up my old Samsung "dumb" flip cellphone that I haven't used for days or maybe weeks, and I think it's actually still On. All same with my mobile iPad 2 and its GPS etc..

Works for me. :Mischievous:

I guess I can't complain too much because my wife's iPhone 6s+ was a gift from my son. He's a stockbroker and has been doing real well with the crazy up and down on Wall Street. By the way, I just recorded a custom voicemail message on my iPhone. Like I said before, I didn't know I could until I read your link. I guess the voicemail was set to the default Apple message, whatever that is?

Sorry 'bout that - iPhone 6. I don't remember this annoying message being tagged on at the end of my custom greeting before. Could it be an iOS10 feature? Or is this Verizon's doing, as they are my carrier?

I have an iPhone 6+ for which I just recorded a custom greeting. And when I played it back, it played back exactly how I recorded it without adding any junk. My carrier is T-Mobile, so maybe it is Verizon adding the extras.

My playback is fine too - one only hears the add-on when you call the phone and it goes to voicemail.

I just came across this from the Apple Mothership for other users in case some support isn't readily available: ;)

How to save Visual Voicemail messages on your iPhone

You need iOS 9 or later, and a carrier that supports Visual Voicemail in order to save Visual Voicemail messages. If you aren't sure if your carrier supports Visual Voicemail, contact them for more information.

Thanks, but I just want to get rid of the dang tag at the end of my own voicemail message.

Is there any option or customize setting you can use to edit or change the message you setup or just create a new one with what you want??
