unibody white macbook screen

good morning, wondering if anyone knows if the 2010 white unibody macbook lcd screen is the same from an a1181 white macbook. have a chance to get one with a shattered screen and I have 2 known good screens from the a1181 white MacBooks. if they are I may take it from the person that has it. she says she will give it to me after she gets another one today

Click on the buy for the replacement panel for each one and you will notice the product number is the same.

thanks, will grab it from her after I take her to get another one, unless she buys my 2009. then I will get to play with attempting to do my first screen replacement.

I guess if my mid 2009 white macbook A1181 was a MacBook Pro the display panel would be the same as a panel from a A1342 white macbook, but I don't think the A1181 panel is the same. Looks like I will either have to order a new one on amazon and wait a week for it to come in, or go into a really high crime area on the Southside of Chicago where the Chicago police do not want to respond to calls at and buy an unknown condition display assembly from a MacBook Pro and make the macbook a hybrid laptop.... have a MacBook Pro display and a white macbook unibody. the new one on amazon is $43.00 with shipping and the used complete display is $40.00 cash at the person's house.

My 2 cents? Order from Amazon. If it doesn't work returns are much easier. ;D

the problem with ordering one from amazon is it won't arrive for probably a week, where if I went and got the one from the known high crime area I would have it now and I wouldn't have had to install it since I told the person selling it I wanted to see it work on my machine.

think I figured out the difference, one is an lcd panel and the other is an led panel

dont have a choice the one on craigslist was sold. have to deal with amazon and installing it.

Have a look at the iFixit website. It should take you through the process with pictures. HTH.

it doesn't look like it will be too difficult to install, but the issue remains I still won't get it until a week from today at the very least and I didn't get to go in a dangerous area and try my luck there.

That's the way it goes. Parts for Apple computers don't grow on trees. 90% or more of the time they need to be ordered...and you have to wait for delivery.

If the person I asked to take me there wasn't such a chicken and afraid to go to an area where there are constant shooting every day or my truck wasn't in the shop I could have got it and be using the a1342 MacBook instead of my a1181 that is running Sierra and working perfect. Now I will have to deal with getting a brand new screen, have to install it which means learning something and waiting... All because he was too much of a chicken

Sorry dude...I know Chicago too well. My wife grew up in Wilmette (just up the road from you). Been hanging out in Chicago for 20 years!

If you're friend is too afraid to go...and your not. Take the CTA (bus or the "L")...or a Taxi. That will certainly get you where you want to go...and then you can get shot trying to get your MacBook replacement display!

When did the conversation shift to how serious a gun shot injury can or can't be??

The reasoning you were giving about not being able to get the part you need locally...was that your friend was too "chicken" to take you where the parts are (and your truck is in the shop).

The solution I posted was take the bus, train, or taxi. If that doesn't work...then just wait for the Amazon order to show up.

if we ended up being victim.... cook county would have to pay for the medical care plus issue monthly checks from the violent crimes victim act so it wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen
