My Aperture library is getting too large for my hard drive, so I want to move from managed to referenced images. When I imported originally to Aperture (managed), I rename my photos from something like DSCF3487.jpg to a system I like, as US_AZ16_173. These names appear as "Version Name" on the Info tab.
When I try to relocate the masters to an external drive, I can't manage to maintain these same version names. They are either the original file name from the camera, or something crazy like <untitled>086.jpg, or in the best case to something similar to my preferred names, but renumbered sequentially. Is there any way to get the relocated images exact same name as "Version Name?"
