I bought an iPhone SE today. Used the same Apple id as I had on a previous iPhone and also on my iMac. I subsequently received an email that says it is from Apple Support asking me to click on a link to verify my Apple id. Is this kosher? The email was sent to me about 3 hours before I tried to add the email account to my new iPhone.
Thanks
Dan

@Dan

I think that beyond all reasonable doubt, this is a phishing scam. Avoid, ignore, Trash.

Always...always...always...check the sender's email address. 99% of the time this will answer if it's legit or not.:)

If it'[email protected]'s not Apple!;)

Apple does not ask you to verify your account. It will usually notify you if you sign in using your Apple ID on multiple devices. But that's more informative than something that requires any action from you.

And, by coincidence, here's a similar scam I received today. I've excluded any personal details.

"Locked for Security Reasons ticket ID:

Apple Itunes
Dear Customer,

Your Apple ID was used to purchase "Hello" by Adele ($3,99) from iTunes Store on a

device that had not previously been associated with you.
If you initiated this purchase, you can disregard this email.

If you did not initiate this purchase, please go to https:/apple.com/support/cancel-84039165 to cancel the transaction

Apple !,

Itunes"

I'm afraid they are becoming more commonplace.

Thanks everyone. I was pretty sure it was a phishing email, figured I would check. I have received a few similar phishing emails pretending to be paypal as well.
Thanks
Dan
