You probably downloaded and installed the "Appswell App". Go to their website and find out how to remove it. If that doesn't work, download the free Malwarebytes app and run a scan of your MacBook Air to get rid of it.

My guess is that in downloading an app from AppsWell you have also inadvertently installed a "manager" of some sort. A lot of alternative app sites do this and although not necessarily harmful they can be a pain. It may well be a browser extension or system utility so you can look in those locations but if you want to continue your relationship with AppsWell it's best to consult them about user preferences or alternatively safe removal.
