• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have a dvd with movies I made while I was still using a Windows based P.C. I can't seem to import any of the files into iMovie. Any help will be appreciated since I have a number of these dvd's that I want to edit.

In order to get those movies into iMovie you will need to convert them into something that iMovie can read. Give this article a read. it explains how to use HandBrake to do what you want. It also has a link to the HandBrake software. Any of the presets they show in the article should work with iMovie. Choose the one that best matches the device they will be played on. I suggest testing a small clip at first to make sure the settings you've chosen will work.
