"Bookworm" virus

Got a popup saying i had a bookworm virus on my Mac. Read something that said t's a trojan. MalwareBytes could not find any problems. Is this real malware or a scam?

If real, what files would be on my Mac and where would they be?

Probably a "ransomeware" popup. Ignore it.

Add Extensions or Add ons to your browser. Ghostery works well for me. Also an Ad Blocker, like AdBlock Plus. There are others to choose from for the different browsers.

Bob - Okay...Have no clue how to add extensions or add ons to my browser. Not sure what Ghostery is but will look it up. Also will look into Ad Blocker. But...never had the item pop up again since my post.
If it is ransomware, they will be deeply disappointed because I keep all my impotent stuff on USBs or external HDs. Nothing to ransom. I also have CCC backup.

Where do you keep the potent stuff?

I only had to worry about this once I turned 75!!!!!

Ransomware is they want you to pay to remove the virus which won't run on a Mac, not access your information.

Bill Gates Jr. Open Safari then click on the word Safari, (left hand side of top toolbar) then click on Safari Extensions. You will find Adblock plus and Ghostery in there. Just click on them to install them into Safari. HTH.
