• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Wow! Did you know Quick Time can do this? (Mission Control demo.)

So I started out wanting to demonstrate how I use Mission Control or rather how I use Mission Control on my MBP and rather than write a long wordy article I thought wouldn't it be great if I could create a short movie of my desktop showing how I use Mission Control.
That prompted me to do an online search and what I found was this: http://www.loopinsight.com/2014/01/08/your-macs-built-in-screen-recorder/
The author says he didn't know Quick Time could do this and neither did I.
Of course I cannot simply attach the MOV file to a post here but I can upload it to You Tube and attach the URL. Unfortunately that's going to take about an hour to upload so I will attach it to my next thread in this post.

I've known about this one for a while though I don't remember exactly when it was addedI think it came about the time Apple made the shift from QuickTime/QuickTime Pro to QuickTime Player X. I don't use it much but I might start adding some screenshots to the Sunday chats to explain some of the tips better.

Hey Rod

Liked the accent! It does make things so much more personal to see a photo and hear the voice of someone with whom one has corresponded and worked via Mac-Forums.

Nice video too. Thank you.

There are so many ways of using Mission Control and yours is certainly an attractive option.

I tend to keep my "key" windows on separate Desktops and either Ctrl arrow between them or open MC using the F 3 key. But yours is a neat alternative.

Again thanks.

Ian

Gee, thanks, it was my first try, not very professional but it was so easy to do.

Your Airmail looks suspiciously like Mailbird (PC). Wonder who copied who?
Great video. Might want to move out of the kitchen though... :)

Thanks Rod. I haven't used Mission Control much but after watching the video I think I will try it a bit more. Even with an additional monitor my desktops always seem to be cluttered. This might address that by using Mission Control to set up different desktops for different groups of tasks O perform regularly.

Wow, I am very happy with the response, it was really just a trial and I suppose I was inspired largely by the Quick Time function that enabled it. I'm sure I can improve on my first try.
Cradom, that's a really funny comment re the kitchen. I haven't used Mailbird PC so I can't comment on that but I was in fact on my upstairs verandah, the sounds you may have heard in the background are the overhead fan and our cleaner who was putting away some laundry at the time.
Just for everybody's information and so you can get to know me better here are a couple of pictures of where I work (if that's the term for it).

I agree . . . nice place. Is that a kratom tree just off from the veranda?

No, it's a Jepun or Frangipani.
