I installed Windows 10 using Boot Camp from OSX 10.11.5 (El Capitan), everything went fine but I wasn't happy with having to hold alt/option every boot if I wanted to choose an OS. So using Windows I installed EasyBCD and installed the Vista+ BCD Bootloader, and then I realized I was stuck on Windows cause I seemed to do something wrong, as even pressing alt/option before wont get the Macintosh HD to show up, I had two options which both brought me to Windows (EFI Boot and Windows drive).
So then I booted into internet recovery and installed OSX onto a third partition (to avoid losing data/overwriting system files), hoping it would bring me closer to restoring the MBR as El Capitan intended. I am now stuck on 10.8.5, however my 10.11.5 installation shows up on Startup Disk within the System Settings, and I can select the option to restart into that OS but it ends up just booting to Mountain Lion. I've ran disk checks and repairs on my drives from Disk Utility but that didn't get me anywhere and everything checked out fine.
I tried installing 3rd party bootloaders, and the only one that seemed to get me closer was rEFit, I can now see the Recovery Partition (unbootable), Untitled (10.8.5 Bootable) and "Legacy OS" which has a Windows logo so I assume this is my Win10 installation but I can't boot into this either. Just get an error or it hangs on loading.
Using rEFit's Partition Inspector I got the following information regarding my partitions.
All I want is to be able to dual-boot between OSX & Windows, and at this point I just want it to work so wouldn't mind holding alt/option each boot lol. Thanks in advance.
