- You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
- You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.
Updated iPhoto, now iMovie 11 can't import photos!

Are you using El Capitan as well? That's a known problem with iMovie 11 and El Cap.

Are you using iPhoto or Photos? If you are using iPhoto on El Capitan you will need to export your iPhoto Library to Photos this is the way Apple have designed the system, it's not a bug it's just that iMovie 11 is designed to work with Photos. see this discussion; http://www.mac-forums.com/os-x-apps-and-games/331502-imovie-wont-photos.html

f you updated iPhoto before upgrading to El Capitan you did the right thing. If you had not it would not be compatible with El Capitan at all, a problem that many users experienced. After you do upgrade to El Capitan you will still be able to use both Photos and iPhoto but the new versions of native software like iMovie will not work with iPhoto any more. To be honest iMovie is not my choice of app for creating movies but most of the rest like MacX Video Converter Pro and Final Cut Pro cost. Personally I use Jahshaka at the moment because it's free and cross platform. http://www.jahshaka.com/download/
