Distorted loading beachball?

This is a weird question, but on my 27 inch retina iMac, the spinning beach ball, when it comes up, seems to be distorted and stretched downwards. This is very visibly out of place because it also looks smaller.

I have tried Googling this dozens of times, but could not find an answer.

Thanks

What resolution are you running your retina iMac at? Anything other than the set in native resolution may cause some distortion especially with moving objects like the spinning beach ball.

Ah, yes, thanks.

I sit quite a distance from the screen, so I cranked up the resolution.

I fully understand. My senior citizen eyes need to be quite close to my 27" iMac. I had glasses made to focus at around 30" which seem to work quite well.
